David and Victoria Beckham’s former nanny apologised to the couple in the high court today for disclosing private and confidential information about them after her resignation.
Abbie Gibson has agreed to give the Beckhams “permanent undertakings of confidentiality”, Mr Justice Eady heard.
Their solicitor, Gerrard Tyrrell, told the court: “Ms Gibson has also agreed to the withdrawal of her claim for constructive dismissal that she made against the claimants which was issued in the employment tribunal in August 2005.”
He said Gibson had “unconditionally apologised to David and Victoria Beckham and their family for breaching her duties of confidence”.
The proceedings against Gibson resulted from the publication of an article in the News of the World in April 2005, headlined “Beckhams behind closed doors”, for which she was paid £125,000. The Beckhams failed to stop the story being published. Read more
